On top of the wonderful Mount Kailash,

Pàrvati bowed down with devotion to Lord Shiva,

the teacher of union with God by means of devotion,

and asked Shiva Shankar:

Om. To thee I bow Lord, Lord of all gods,

higher than the highest, Guru of the universe;

O eternal Shiva, great God,

please bestow upon me the initiation of the Guru.

O Master, teach me the path

which a seeker has to follow to become one with Brahman.

O Swami, o Master, show me Thy compassion.

I bow to Thy feet.
