Meditation at the dhuni

Then I sat before the dhuni. In a wide circular pit, a vivid flame illuminated the outlines of the people, crackling softly as though sharing in the mysterious stillness that filled the air and, through the breath, entered mind, heart - everything. The dhuni, the aarati, the chandan - they were part of ancient rituals restored by the Master, endowed with a powerful force for channeling divine energy, a meaning I then ignored.
